When there are no fire hydrants or when a hydrant fails, fire fighters need to find a water supply to fight the fire. Pulling water into the pump from a body of water is called drafting. A large diameter hose is placed in the water and a powerful pump sucks the water up and then pressurizes the water to use on the fire. Here Engine 52 is drafting water and supplying Ladder 52 with water to fight a fire.
Parking near the water supply.
Hard sleeve hose goes from the water source to the truck/pump.
